Working version, published 18 September 2026. These terms have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and are not final. They describe how Carpenter Bee currently operates. If anything here conflicts with your rights under Ontario or Canadian law, the law applies. Our registered business address will be added here shortly.

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern access to and use of carpenterbee.ca and any related services (the “Service”), operated by PLATINUM GROUP LLC, a limited liability company formed in Delaware, United States. “Carpenter Bee”, “we” and “us” refer to PLATINUM GROUP LLC trading as Carpenter Bee.

By using the Service, creating an account, or submitting a listing, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. What Carpenter Bee is — and is not

Carpenter Bee is an online classified directory. Construction, renovation and trades businesses publish their own listings, and homeowners contact those businesses directly.

We are not a contractor, a general contractor, an agency, a broker, or a referral service. We do not perform, supervise, schedule, price, inspect, warrant or guarantee any work. We do not vet, screen, licence-check or endorse the businesses that publish listings, and we do not hold or handle payments between homeowners and contractors.

All information in a listing is supplied by the business that published it and reflects that business’s own statements. Any contract for work is strictly between the homeowner and the contractor. We are not a party to it and take no responsibility for it.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. A contractor account may only be created by a person authorised to act for the business being listed.

You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your password confidential, and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly through our contact form if you believe your account has been used without your authorisation.

4. Listings and content rules

By publishing a listing you confirm that: the business exists and operates in the areas shown; the description of services is accurate and not misleading; you hold any licences, registrations and insurance you refer to; and you have the right to use all text, photographs, logos and other material you upload.

You must not publish: false or misleading claims; content that belongs to someone else without permission; another business’s details; adult, unlawful, discriminatory or abusive content; malware or links to it; or contact details that are not those of the listed business.

You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce, adapt for formatting, and promote your listing content on the Service and in our own marketing, for as long as the listing is published and for a reasonable period afterwards in archives and caches.

We may edit, suspend or remove any listing that, in our reasonable opinion, breaches these Terms or the law, or that is the subject of a credible complaint. Where practical, we will tell you why.

5. Fees, payment and taxes

Listing plans and their prices are shown on our pricing page. Fees are a one-time payment per listing, HST included, in Canadian dollars. There is no subscription and no automatic renewal: we will not charge your payment method again unless you place a new order.

Payments are processed by our payment provider. Card details are entered on the provider’s own page and we never see or store them.

We may change plan prices at any time. A change does not affect a listing you have already paid for during its paid term.

6. Listing term, renewal and removal

A paid listing is published for the term of the plan you bought — 30 days on Starter, 45 days on Professional, 90 days on Master Pro — counted from the date it goes live, unless removed earlier under these Terms. We will email you before the term ends; renewal is your choice and requires a new order.

You may ask us to remove your listing at any time through our contact form. Removal before the end of the term does not entitle you to a refund except as set out below.

7. Refunds

If your listing has not yet been published, you may cancel within 14 days of payment for a full refund. Once a listing is published, fees are non-refundable, except where required by applicable law or where we remove your listing for a reason that is not your fault.

If we remove or suspend a listing because it breaches these Terms, no refund is due.

8. Reviews and other user content

Reviews must describe a genuine experience with the business reviewed. You must not publish reviews of your own business or of a competitor, buy or sell reviews, or offer incentives in exchange for a review.

We may remove a review that breaches these rules, that is unlawful, or that we reasonably believe is not genuine. We are not obliged to monitor reviews and we do not verify them.

9. Intellectual property

The Service, its design, text, graphics and software, other than user content, belong to us or our licensors and may not be copied, scraped, resold or used to build a competing database without our written permission.

10. Acceptable use

You must not interfere with the Service, attempt to gain unauthorised access, scrape or bulk-collect data, use the Service to send unsolicited commercial messages, or use it for any unlawful purpose.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that listings are accurate, current or complete, that any business is qualified, licensed, insured or solvent, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profit, revenue, data, business or goodwill, arising out of or related to the Service, the work performed by any contractor, or any dealings between homeowners and contractors.

Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the listing to which the claim relates in the twelve months before the claim arose, or CAD $100 if you have paid us nothing.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Ontario or Canadian law.

13. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your listing content, your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or any dispute between you and another user.

14. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we reasonably believe your use harms other users or us. You may stop using the Service at any time.

15. Privacy

Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The current version is always published on this page with the date it took effect. Material changes will apply to new orders from the date of publication; your continued use of the Service after that date means you accept the updated Terms.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, and the courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction. Although we are incorporated in the United States, we direct this Service at Ontario, and nothing in these Terms removes any right you have under Ontario or Canadian consumer protection law.
